Wish List

Sources of Funding: Initially (since 1993) Sudan Medical Care received full funding from USAID. Currently we are receiving partial funding from three different sources:

• OFDA as a branch of USAID
• CHF or Common Humanitarian Fund as part of United Nations Development Program (UNDP)
• Australian Aid through Caritas Australia

For the above funding sources we have a partner that advocates on our behalf: Catholic Relief Service-CRS

Additionally, to fill in some funding gaps, SMC Executive has organized a supporting charity in Canada named Sudan Canadian Medical Care; its main goal is to raise funds and awareness to support the work of Sudan Medical Care in South Sudan. Also, it is to be noted that most drug supplies come from the Government of South Sudan Ministry of Health. Below is our wish list:

  • Rehabilitation and construction of health facilities-PHCCs/PHCUs: Solar System for 5 PHCCS
  • Equipment/supplementary drugs and lab reagents
  • Vehicle: Patient transport, vaccination outreach, drugs transportation and monitoring and evaluation visits
  • Vehicle maintainant, fuel and stationaries
  • Staff support (incentive/honorarium)
  • Training: Refresher training or long term training
  • Health Education: Community Health Outreach
  • Information and Data Management System: Computers
  • Communication: Internet Connection System

Dear supporter, you can fund one item, more or the wish list depending on your financial capability; the total yearly budget is more than half a million US dollars. Based on reality and needs we have the following priority list:

  1. Vehicle: Patient transport, vaccination outreach, drugs transportation and monitoring and evaluation visits
  2. Mosquito Nets for children under five and pregnant women
  3. Funds to support two field doctors, four midwives, four nurses and four lab technicians
